Her tweets caused panic amongst Nigerians as she claimed that the kidnappers were dressed in police uniforms and abducted her and others from their homes.

Following a detailed investigation, the police released a statement last week debunking Ameerah’s claim that she was abducted. The statement said further details will be released later but Ameerah has been found.

In a series of tweets posted this afternoon, Ameerah apologized for misleading the general public, the police, her family, and friends.

”I intentionally took myself out of our house, went to these locations, entered bushes and dehydrated, and starved myself for four days just like that. No kidnapping, nothing at all. I truly apologise and please pray for me. I need it” she wrote
