The management of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Ondo state (AAUA) have shut down the institution and instructed Students to vacate their hall of residence and university campus with immediate effect following the protest carried out by students of the university against the No school fee, no exam policy introduced at the beginning of the semester.
Recall that the first semester examination started today and students protested against this policy earlier today, burning sticks and chasing students away from the exam hall.
Newsmen also gathered that students went to the Senate building, destroying some equipments in the reception room.
In a circular obtained by newsmen and signed by the institution registrar, Olugbenga Arajulu, the management notified all students that the University be shut indefinitely.
The circular reads in full;
“Following the violent protest of students of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Ondo state, today monday, November 22, 2021, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Olugbenga E. IGE, has, on behalf of the Senate of the university, directed that the University be closed indefinitely”
“All students are therefore advised to vacate their Halls of residence and the University campus with immediate effect”
According to report, some students were seen in their numbers this evening looting some restaurants in Akungba community. Restaurants like Chicken Republic, Simple, were reported to have been looted.
