The Ondo State office of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC was on fire on Thursday light.
The fire outbreak started around 8:45pm at the ICT unit of the commission.
Over 5000 card readers have been destroyed in the inferno, with the cause of the outbreak unknown.
The Ondo State fire service is less than 500 meters from the commission.
The commission is situated in Alagbaka area of Akure, the state capital.
Governorship election in the state had been scheduled for October 10, 2020.
