Adekunle Gold Defends His Wife, Simi On LGBTQ Controversy

Nigerian singer/songwriter, Adekunle Gold has defended his wife, Simi against the on-going LGBTQ slam, saying it was pure coincidence.

Simi’s apology to the LGBTQ community and her husband, Adekunle Gold’s subsequent cover of a queer magazine has raised eyebrows a few days ago.

Recalled that the sensational singer made some damning and insensitive comments against the LGBTQ community. She rendered an apology, however, many people saw the apology that it was one that wasn’t very sincere. This whole issue came from the backdrop that Adekunle covered a queer magazine some few moments after his wife’s apology.

Speaking about this development, Adekunle has labeled his wife’s apology as “PURE COINCIDENCE”. Defending his wife, he said she had no idea about the interview he had with the queer magazine as he begged people especially the LGBTQ community to accept the apology.

The music star in a post shared via his Twitter page on Tuesday, August 4, 2020, said he doesn’t hate or discriminate against anyone, irrespective of their life choices. He wrote:

“I’m not a person who supports any kind of hate, period. I don’t agree with homophobic behaviour in any sense. I’m cool with every human being including my fans, regardless of who they love and what they identify with”.

He then went on to address the claims that his wife’s apology over her homophobic comments was for selfish reasons.

“The timing of my wife’s apology was a pure and simple coincidence. She had no idea about this or any interview whatsoever…I hope you consider her apology and give her a chance to grow”. he said.

Adekunle Gold’s comment is also coming several days after his wife, Simi issued a public apology to the gay community across the globe. The songstress revealed that homosexuals do not deserve the harsh comments during her Stoopid Session.

After she had tendered an unreserved apology on Twitter, a lot of people called her out; claiming she only apologized because of her husband’s recent cover for an LGBT magazine, Quazar. The mother of one stated that she is sincerely sorry for berating the wellness of individuals in the LGBT community.
